proliferative kidney disease
a temperature-dependent disease of salmonids from a myxosporean protozoan causing gross changes in the kidney. Fish become dark in colour, anaemic and show abdominal swelling. Growth is slowed and loss of stock is catastrophic once another stressor is introduced. Abbreviated as PKD
